If you are a breakfast connoisseur like myself than you know the ins and outs of eating a balanced, healthy, and delicious breakfast. Unfortunately, some of the yummiest breakfast options are not very healthy and are loaded with fat, sugar, and unnecessary carbs. Eating well every day and during prep becomes a challenge when you want to splurge and sink your teeth into a big, fluffy, syrupy treat. Don’t think you have to go cold turkey though, there are hacks to these problems and today I would like to share one with you.
After trying multiple breads I found one in particular that worked really well when making my French toast. It is called Lewis 100% Wheat Bread and it has only 60 calories a slice and the macros are 3P | 1F | 12C. Don’t feel like you need to buy this specific bread for this recipe. It is just a suggestion because the bread is thick and doesn’t break while soaking.
When it comes to syrup, I personally really enjoy Hungry Jack’s Sugar Free syrup. You can use whatever you like but be conscious that most syrups are not made from real maple and are just full of artificial sugar and can add up to over 250 calories a 1/4 cup! If you want to skip syrup all together, try using powdered peanut butter or pureed fruit! This recipe is so easy to make and it tastes so yummy and is crazy filling! I wish I could eat French toast for breakfast every morning!
